Bio

Summer D’Amato was born and raised along the Long Island Sound in Fairfield, Connecticut. She received her BFA in Printmaking from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston. Printmaking is her preferred medium, but she enjoys doing graphite and colored pencil drawings and mixed media sculptural work as well. Summer makes art about the relationships between our physical world, the dream world, and the spiritual world. Growing up in a beach town has created a strong bond between herself and the ocean. She uses nature, especially the beach, references from her dreams, and home-like structures as visual tools to create surreal art. She does this in order to explain her personal experiences with combining these worlds. As of right now, Summer has participated in group gallery shows in Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, and North Carolina. She is currently based in Portland, Maine, where she continues her art practice.
